I’m hoping that hanging this colourful quilt in my hallway will inspire spring to come early! I made these improv blocks at a fall quilting retreat. The colours were inspired be Northcott’s Artisan spirit line “Poppy Passion” designed by Elaine Quehl and Northcott’s Shimmer line. I originally designed this sampler quilt to celebrate Canada. Our guild is making this quilt as a quilt a long, to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. The blocks cover a wide range of skills and techniques. In October we made the Railway block and the Log Cabin Snowy Mountain block focusing on accurate cutting and piecing. Excited to say I finished my newest quilt which I have called “Birdland”. Although it’s a scrap quilt I’ve used lots of Northcott’s solids from their Colourworks line. I finally finished quilting my birch tree diptych. It is 10ft wide altogether so I create two panels. I’ve added falling leaves and three birds.
