Beth van Wyngaarden’s Workshop Class Options for 2025 and 2026

Birch Tree Quilt – Land of the Silver Birch (54″X54″)
Create a customized forest of your own using Beth’s pattern and technique.
Skills: Construct background using a design wall and chain piecing. Use strip piecing
techniques to create birch trees. With clear instructions, insert birch trees into your
background. Facing binding and detailed quilting options will be demonstrated.

Time: 2 full day classes at least a week apart
Wonky Log Cabin – Improv piecing
Improvisational piecing is a fun, relaxed style of piecing that creates a slightly
Wonky, joyful look for a large quilt or smaller piece. We will be using the improv
style to create log cabin inspired blocks. Bring scraps and an open mind and spend
the day with us exploring this technique. In class you will create 1 or more
12” blocks that can be used for a pillow cover or small wall hanging. This is a
great technique for using your scraps.

Time: 1 full day
Beyond the Basic – Free Motion Machine Quilting
Let’s practice and review some common free motion designs to
find 4 or 5 designs you enjoy creating. For example -meander, loops,
paisley, pebbles, swirls… Then we will explore how to combine your
favourite designs for a unique “Edge to Edge” quilting design you can be
comfortable with and enjoy doing. You can use this design in class
to quilt a baby quilt or pillow cover.

Time: 1 full day
Canada’s Natural Regions Canada – Natural Regions (58″ X 50″)
Make a large wall quilt to celebrate Canada’s natural regions from the
rocky mountains to the prairies to Canadian Shield, Maritimes and the
arctic. Learn to easily piece a large grid using grid marked interfacing.
The quilting options are endless!
